Expectations and Homework
Students should come to class prepared to both participate in class discussion and take in new information. As a elementary class, this class is not graded. However, feedback will be given each week to ensure that students are progressing in their knowledge of the topics covered. Homework will require about 1-1.5 hours outside of class.

About the Course
3/4 Language Arts

This class will include:

1. Weekly time for students to practice speaking in front of their peers.

2. An introduction to root words to enhance reading comprehansion. 

3. An introduction to classic poetry and how to analyze a poem.

4. An introduction to composition through reading classics and summarizing the text.

5. An introduction to grammar basics such as capitalizaion, punctuation, and identifying parts of speech.

1. Introduction to Composition, Student Guide, 3rd Edition, Memoria Press

2. Poetry for the Grammar Stage, Student Guide, 3rd Edition, Memoria Press 

3. Introduction to English Grammar, Student Workbook, Memoria Press

4. Word Roots, Beginning, The Critical Thinking Co

5. Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder (Used books are fine)

6. Charlotte's Webb by E. B. White (Used books are fine)

I grew up in East Tennessee and moved to Kentucky to attend Boyce College. My husband and I have 4 boys and we have been homeschooling over 10 years.
