About the Course

This course is designed to be an introductory course in robotics and coding. We’ll introduce the history of computer science and robotics, research pioneers in the field, and explore their contributions. We’ll investigate the design of robots and their moving parts. In addition, this course will be using many different types of robots from simple to complex.
Learning Objectives Include:
- Learning computer science and coding vocabulary
- Decoding different types of data
- Using block code
- Learning the basics of electricity
- Building circuits and sensors
- Using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to write code
- Troubleshooting and debugging
Students will be invited to join a Scratch classroom when we learn block coding. They will create a unique classroom username and password. If students have a personal login, they may copy their classroom projects into that account at the end of the school year.
The syllabus of this course will adapt to the pace of the students, and I will provide links to all the online materials used during the course.
This course will provide opportunities to complete hands-on design challenges in circuitry and computer programming. A main focus of class will be to work together and try new things.

About Angela

I am excited to bring an introduction to coding and robotics to Cornerstone. My family has been homeschooling for five years and we are so thankful for the community at Cornerstone. I am a professional geographer and work as a geospatial engineer at Trideum Corporation. I completed my master’s degree in Geographic Information Science and am currently pursuing a degree in software development.
My family and I live on a farm in Lanesville, Indiana. I enjoy building outdoor education programs for different scouting organizations, and I have taught programming, robotics, and cybersecurity for scouting programs. I love crafting, singing in our church’s choir, and being outdoors.
